Nancy: Hi. Welcome back to Nancy's Book Corner. I'm Nancy Trush, co-founder of Daniel's Music Foundation and Daniel's mom. As an early childhood educator, one of my favorite things to do is to share special books about differences with my students.
Nancy: The title of today's book is Quinn-Da-Lin, written by Larisa Vivolo. This book follows a boy who goes on a big adventure to find the perfect puppy friend. Along the way, he meets lots of different dogs. Some are wiggly, some are quiet, some are short, and some are tall. But the little boy learns that differences can lead to the most wonderful friendship of all. Let's get started.
Nancy: "Today is the day! Hooray! Hooray! Today is the day I'll get right up. Today is the day I'll find my pup. I'll find a puppy so sweet and kind, just the puppy I have in mind." The little boy is so excited because today is the day he's going to get a new puppy. He gets into his wheelchair and imagines all the fun adventures he will have with his new puppy.

Nancy: "A puppy to hug when tired or sad. A puppy to love when happy and glad. A puppy to jump, a puppy to run, a puppy that makes life a whole lot of fun. We will gaze up at the stars and even take a spaceship to Mars. We will be the best team and always make time for ice cream."

Nancy: "I'll find a puppy so perfect, you see. I'll find a puppy that's different like me. I'll look up, I'll look down, I'll look all over town. Some were big and some were small. Some were skinny, short, and tall. I looked all day, I looked all night. But each little puppy didn't seem quite right."

Nancy: "And then in a corner, I suddenly spied a puppy so cute, I couldn't pass by. They told me this pup has been here for a while. How people just passed right on by with no smile. I couldn't help but wonder with such fluffy fur why nobody wanted a cutie like her. Her snout was shaggy and wild and bushy, but her face adorable, oh, so mushy."
