For over a decade we have been using music to create a community for individuals with disabilities, built on acceptance and respect that promotes self-confidence, well-being and joy. Through our own personal experiences and those of our musicians, we have witnessed first-hand the need for a Diversity Awareness program that specifically highlights the talents and abilities of individuals with disabilities.
The Disability Universe
More than 56 million Americans are currently living with a disability in the United States, making it the largest minority group in the country - with approximately 860,000 living here in NYC alone.
DMF Diversity Through Music Initiative
A unique volunteer program, free to schools, corporations and organizations, the DMF Diversity Awareness Through Music Initiative uses the universal language of music to build a bridge between individuals with disabilities and the general public.
Organizations of all types and sizes are welcome to participate in the DMF Diversity Through Music Initiative.
Periodically, Diversity Awareness programs with our partners come to life through joint concerts.
