Brooke BryantBrooke Bryant is a songwriter and classically-trained soprano. Brooke performs her own music and pieces by Renaissance, Baroque and Classical composers at rock clubs and concert halls in the New York area. She sings with and directs the Baroque trio Charites and she enjoys performing new works and premiered pieces by various composers. Brooke holds a PhD in Musicology from the CUNY Graduate Center and a BA in Music from Wellesley College. She has taught courses at Manhattan College and the College of Staten Island. Brooke teaches the Introduction to Voice class and Voice Lab on Mondays and the Voice Technique classes on Wednesdays. Brooke also serves as Grant Writer, Outreach Coordinator and is on the Junior Council of DMF.
Susan Conley
Susan Conley has been a childhood educator for 27 years at Park Avenue Methodist Day School in Manhattan, where she also participates in the admissions process. Ten years ago, she developed a music class for children ages 3 – 6 incorporating sign language, movement and dance. Susan has been performing since age seven, and she plays piano, trumpet and guitar. She received a trumpet scholarship in college, where she played in the marching band, orchestra, dance band and various ensembles. Susan teaches the Music and Movement classes for children 3 – 7 years old on Mondays and Wednesdays.
Jessy Pepi Ginsberg
Born in Brooklyn, Pepi Ginsberg studied writing at the University of Pennsylvania, where she began playing guitar and composing her own songs. Since then, she has played in many notable venues throughout the country and recorded four albums. She has released one record on Park the Van records with another due out this fall. Pepi teaches at DMF as her schedule permits.
Scott Harris
Scott Harris is a singer/songwriter and guitarist who sings and plays guitar with his band, the Scott Harris Project. After a national summer tour in 2008 opening for Teddy Geiger, Scott and the band found themselves in the studio with famed producer Paul Fox, who has previously worked with acts including Phish, Bjork and 10,000 Maniacs. Scott is also a recording engineer and producer, and he is currently recording an album of original music by DMF members.
Dominique Jeannot
Dominique Jeannot is a lifelong musician and educator who holds a Masters in Music Therapy from NYU and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Yale University. She has been a teacher of all grade levels for many years. and also has over twenty years of experience in piano, 17 years of experience as a vocal solo and choral artist, and over five years in guitar. Dominique has enjoyed educating and making music with people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities. So this semester, she is happy to be teaching for the first time the Introduction to Voice class at DMF.
Stephanie Jensen-Moulton
Stephanie Jensen-Moulton is an Assistant Professor of Musicology at Brooklyn College. Stephanie graduated with a PhD in Musicology and a Women's Studies Certificate from the CUNY Graduate Center. She has published articles on women in hip-hop, the nineteenth-century pianist "Blind Tom" Wiggins and feminist pedagogy. As a singer, she specializes in contemporary repertory, and has been hailed by the New York Times as a soprano who sings "brilliantly and confidently." Stephanie is on the Board of Advisors and will be teaching again this summer.
John Marino
John is a Board Certified Music Therapist and a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist and has been teaching the keyboard to Daniel for more than 9 years. While an Intern at Beth Abraham, he worked with Oliver Sacks and Concetta Tomaino. John is a lifetime percussionist and has played with several touring groups. He teaches the adult Keyboard class and works in the Music Lab on Mondays.
Stewart Meadowcroft
Stewart is an avid pianist and guitarist, who as a teenager earned selection to the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain and co-founded a community theater company. With a master’s degree from the University of Sheffield, Stewart’s career has taken him from owning and operating his own swim school, to managing the marketing function at one of England’s finest track and field facilities at Eton College. Stewart has taught numerous activities for people with disabilities and managed summer programs for children with a range of disabilities and their siblings. Stewart teaches Keyboard and Guitar classes on both Mondays and Wednesdays, Recreational Rhythm on Mondays and also leads our Join the Band class on Wednesdays. Stewart is also the Volunteer Coordinator at DMF.
Jaime Lyn Palmer
Jaime earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Therapy from Arizona State University and her Masters Degree in Education from Teacher’s College at Columbia University. She performed with the ASU steel drum band, The Pan Devils and the ASU Woman’s Choir each year of her undergraduate study. As a Board Certified Music Therapist, Jaime has worked with people from all ages and populations for 9 years to include those living with: Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, developmental delays, physical disabilities, vision impairment, mental illness and terminal illness in both individual and group settings. Jaime will be teaching the children’s Keyboard and Rhythm classes on Mondays and the Performance Lab and the adult Keyboard II class on Wednesdays.
Gerry Powers
Gerry Powers is a professional opera singer who has performed internationally for many years, singing the French/Italian lyric tenor repertoire. As a singer/songwriter and a guitarist/pianist, he has participated in diverse musical situations. He has sung in and directed church choirs, played in jazz and rock groups, has written, arranged and recorded original songs, and has written and recorded many jingles for radio and television. He has been a vocal and guitar instructor and has a degree in education from SUNY Oswego. Gerry will be teaching the Song Composition class on Wednesdays.
Braulio Thorne
Braulio is a life long percussionist and teaches the Introduction to Percussion and Percussion II classes on Wednesdays. He has over 20 years teaching experience and will be using a variety of instruments including congas, bongos, hand drums, buffalo drums along with some "homemade instruments." Braulio will also assist in the Join the Band class on Wednesdays.
Jennifer CHJ Wilson
Jennifer is a Ph.D. candidate in Musicology at the CUNY Graduate Center, and works as a Communication Fellow and teaches Music in Civilization at Baruch College. Due to her commitment to Baruch College, Jennifer will not be able to teach this semester but will continue to be the webmaster for DMF.
