Fall 2008 Music Instruction Classes

Instruction Classes are offered to members only. Membership is free and there are no dues or fees required for any classes You do not need to have any prior music experience to join many of the classes and membership information is available here.

We will provide Instruction Classes on Mondays and Wednesdays beginning on September 22nd. Our Fall Celebration Concert will be on Sunday, December 14th.

The Music Lab	The Lab does not require registration and allows for members to experiment with different instruments, sounds, and rhythms. Any member can stop by on Mondays and work with our staff to learn, innovate and improvise in a positive, creative environment.	6pm-6:50pm with John Marino and Jessy Pepi Ginsberg
Introduction to Keyboard	We focus on the C-Major scale with proper finger positioning, warm-up exercises, reading and understanding basic music notation, music theory, and playing alone and in collaboration with classmates. We encourage creativity and improvisation.	5:30pm-5:55pm, 6:00pm-6:25pm, and 6:30pm-6:55pm (children and teens) with Jaime Lyn Palmer 7pm-7:50pm (older teens and adults) with John Marino	5:40pm-6:30pm and 6:30pm-7:20pm (older teens and adults) with Jennifer CHJ Wilson. Our 6:30pm Wednesday class emphasizes learning by ear, however all are welcome!
Keyboard II	We practice chords, additional scales, and advanced melodies as well as more advanced music theory. Creativity, improvisation and group collaboration are still emphasized.		7:30pm-8:20pm Jaime Lyn Palmer This class emphasizes learning by ear, however all are welcome!
Introduction to Voice	This class is open to all members who enjoy singing and working within a group regardless of prior experience. You just need to be willing to learn. We focus on proper singing techniques and position, voice exercises and group collaboration. A variety of popular songs are selected and practiced.	7:00pm-8:20pm (older children and adults) with Brooke Bryant.	7:30pm-8:20pm (older teens and adults) with Sarah Loveland
Voice Technique	This class is more structured than the Introduction to Voice class. We will explore new songs that may not be familiar to you. We will focus on how the voice works, how to improve your singing through voice exercises and to gain confidence in singing solo.		6:30pm-7:20pm (older teens and adults) with Sarah Loveland
Introduction to Rhythm	We teach different rhythms, tempos and dynamics using a variety of percussion instruments. Group collaboration is emphasized along with creative movement and singing.	4pm-4:50pm (children 3-6) with Susan Conley
Song Composition	We assist you in composing your very own original song! If you choose to compose a vocal song we assist you with the words and accompaniment. If your choice is an instrumental, we use Garageband on the Mac and various instruments to help you make your very own masterpiece. You will also receive your own original CD that you can play for your family and friends!	5:30pm-6:20pm (children and teens) with Jessy Pepi Ginsberg.	5:40pm-6:30pm with Jessy Pepi Ginsberg.
Introduction to Percussion	We teach the basics of percussion using a variety of instruments including congas, bongos, tambourines, shakers, hand drums, buffalo drums and even some "homemade instruments." Both group collaboration and individual solo's are encouraged.		5:40pm-6:30pm with Braulio Thorne
